Dulaglutide

Dulaglutide is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist marketed by Eli Lilly under the brand name Trulicity. It is a recombinant fusion protein combining a modified GLP-1 sequence with an antibody Fc fragment, which extends its half-life to allow once-weekly subcutaneous injection. It is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes and for cardiovascular risk reduction in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease. Unlike semaglutide, dulaglutide has not been formally approved for weight management as a primary indication.

Dulaglutide is one of the original weekly GLP-1 medications — the predecessor in many ways to the headline-grabbing semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy).
